Angry Housewives

Book by A.M. Collins
Music and Lyrics by Chad Henry
Directed by Sharon Gregory

March 12 - 28, 2010

Bored with their everyday lives and kept in insignifance by their boyfriends/husbands and sons, these are four angry women. They try a number or outlets but nothing suits until one of them suggests that they form a punk rock group to enter an upcoming talent show. This is a marvelous satire of contemporary feminism with LOL opportunities for men and women alike.

RENT

Books, Music and Lyrics by Jonathon Larson
Directed by David VanArnam

May 7 - 23, 2010

Rent is a rock musical that tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side under the shadow of AIDS. On Broadway, Rent gained critical acclaim and won a Tony Award for Best Musical among other awards. With music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson, Rent is based on Puccini's La Bohème, in which the luscious splendor of Puccini's world would be replaced with the coarseness and noise of modern New York. The musical brings controversial topics to a traditionally conservative medium, helping to increase the popularity of musical theater amongst the younger generation.

Grease

Book, Music and Lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey
Directed by K. Lynette McGilliard

July 9 – 25, 2010

Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding "Burger Palace Boys" and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as "Greased Lightnin'", "It's Raining on Prom Night", "Alone at the Drive-In Movie" recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. An 8-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals along with innumerable school and community productions place Grease among the world's most popular musicals.

"A lively and funny musical--as well as the dancingest one in town... it's a winner...the songs are dandies [that portray] the early rockers with zip and charm...the sheer energy of Grease carries all before it."---N.Y. Daily News

The Sound of Music
